More than 9,000 organisations in 140 countries accept TOEFL score. It includes schools, colleges, universities, companies hiring skilled foreign labor, immigration authorities and professional bodies. The TOEFL test is required to evaluate performance of a non-native English speaker to read, write and speak English. There are two formats of the TOEFL exam: the paper-based test (PBT) and the internet-based test (iBT). In most countries, the TOEFL iBT is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). There are four sections in the TOEFL iBT, viz., listening, reading, speaking and writing which take a total of about 3 and half hours to four and a quarter hours to complete.
Duration of TOEFL test is around 4 hours. A student can take this exam any number of times in a year to improve the score. TOEFL scores are available in 10 days. Student can send additional score reports to 4 universities 24 hours before exam. After that extra charges are incurred on usual score report fee. IELTS scores can be sent either Electronically to the universities/colleges for study abroad.
TOEFL score is valid for a period of two years from the date of examination. A student is eligible to write TOEFL exam any number of times but only once in 3 weeks. TOEFL is conducted more than 50 times in a year especially on Saturdays and Sundays.
